Myomo The MyoPro™ is a portable, lightweight, functional arm brace that assists with movement of a weak arm as a result of neuromuscular damage.

The MyoPro™ is a Myoelectric Limb Orthosis designed to provide an assistive function for joint motion enabling individuals to self-initiate and control movements of a partially paralyzed arm using their own muscle signals. The custom brace incorporates established non-invasive myoelectric sensing in a customized, lighweight, wearable brace that enables a person to initiate and control movement of their own arm.

Rep. Dave Joyce

This morning I visited Geauga Rehabilitation Engineering GRE Orthotics & Prosthetics to hear about their collaboration with Myomo, a medical robotics company that offers expanded mobility for patients suffering from neurological disorders and upper-limb paralysis. I was brought up to speed on their latest developments with the MyoPro, a powered brace that sends electrical signals to muscles, allowing those suffering from paralysis to have increased independence with motor skills. I’m proud to see such inspiring and innovating work in OH-14.

Kessler Foundation awarded federal grant to study wearable robotic in spinal cord injury

"We are grateful to the DOD for empowering the Kessler Foundation to conduct research around our MyoPro line of powered orthoses," said Paul R. Gudonis, chief executive officer of Myomo. "Myomo is committed to transforming the lives of veterans with neurological or neuromuscular disease or injury by restoring control and range of motion to their arms and hands, giving them back their independence and reducing their cost of healthcare. It is important to continue to research MyoPro to further document how it can change veteran's lives."

'The MyoPro brace facilitates elbow, wrist, and hand function with built-in motors and sensors that are driven by the patients' voluntary muscle activity,' explained Dr. Androwis. 'This study will provide the data needed to expand the options for rehabilitation for veterans, and lay the foundation f...

This Powered Brace Restores Arm Movement by Sensing Nerve Signals | Digital Trends

“MyoPro can help restore function to an arm paralyzed or weakened by any disease or injury — it is diagnosis agnostic,” Paul Gudonis, chairman and CEO of Myomo, told Digital Trends. “We estimate approximately 1 percent of the population is in this condition. Patients with their MyoPro brace enjoy getting back the ability to do everyday activities such as cutting food, getting dressed, holding a book, playing pool, and helping with chores around the house. MyoPro is suited for this because it is lightweight, wearable, easy to use, and its long-life swappable battery enables all-day use.”

The MyoPro myoelectric arm orthosis promises to help restore functionality in the arms and hands of individuals with neuromuscular disease or injury. That includes those affected by conditions such as strokes, brachial plexus injury, or cerebral palsy. Here's how it works.
